In Japan, people tend to rely on non-verbal cues more than the literal meaning of messages. There’s nothing wrong with short-term dating and hook-ups.These non-verbal cues are not obvious to everybody. The problems here are the differences in expectation and the dishonesty. Do Japanese women date Indian and other South Asian guys? The easiest way to confirm this is to visit Indian restaurants in Japan.Unlike Japan, California is a true melting pot of cultures but since I had so little dating experience back home, I was nervous about getting into the dating scene in America.Mostly because I had no idea how the American dating culture worked.Andre’s case was misfortunate because he had a particularly direct communication style and his ex-girlfriend had a particularly indirect communication style. When Charles, a British guy, met her, he immediately liked her. A few days later, Charles sent her a message: ‘Hey, let’s go out again sometime.’ To this, she politely replied, ‘No thanks.’ Her lack of interest wasn’t the only problem. Some of these restaurants are managed by Japanese-Indian couples.James is a British man who is said to have slept with more than 100 Japanese women. She was a rock musician but she dressed very nicely. Charles didn’t speak much Japanese, and she didn’t speak any English at all. (I know this because the Japanese wives tend to be very friendly and often talk to me.) Danuja, a Sri Lankan man who has lived in Japan for 11 years, had two long-term relationships with Japanese girls prior to his current Japanese girlfriend. They became friends first and it took six months for them to start dating.Growing up in Japan my parents were really strict and so I didn’t get an opportunity to start going on dates until after I graduated from high school.
Let me share with you some of the interesting stuff they told me about Japanese women! Andre, a Jamaican man, went on a trip with his Japanese girlfriend. This exchange seemed innocent enough to Andre, until a few months later when their relationship got tense. Andre, the aforementioned Jamaican guy, also realised that he tended to have bad experiences with girls he met in bars.
When I first moved America to attend college, I was nervous about starting a life in a new country because I wasn’t sure how quickly I would be able to adapt to the new culture.
Even though it had been my dream to live in America, I was very excited but nervous at the same time.
You don’t have to talk about all of these things with each dating partner, but you should definitely think about it especially with one that seems like it could evolve into a relationship. Are you looking for a casual hookup, a friend with benefits, a boyfriend/girlfriend, or a future marriage partner?
As mentioned before, you probably shouldn't actually discuss this, but early on in the dating process, you should figure out what you want from the relationship. If you are looking for a long-term relationship, set some long-term dates, like going to Sky Tree on Christmas or a romantic getaway to Okinawa during summer vacation.
